We are dedicated to protect children and youth from
the impact of violence to create hope
Metro Louisville is a community that shields
all children and youth from violence.
Community Shield is a secondary prevention effort bringing together a diverse group of agencies, institutions, and individuals to develop a comprehensive, community-wide response to children’s exposure to violence using a collective impact model. We have nearly 40 partners, including non-profit agencies, schools, courts, and local government in Louisville, all aimed at effectively interrupting the cycle of violence. Moving beyond service coordination, these partners align their efforts, leverage resources, and have developed a community-wide response to children’s exposure to violence. There are multiple levels of membership (individuals, smaller agencies, larger agencies), and many agencies have been at the table from the start. Each member’s voice is equally weighted for decision-making and planning.
Nearly 40 partners, including non-profit agencies, schools, courts, and local government in Louisville, have committed to using the collective impact model to develop a comprehensive, multi-system plan to effectively interrupt the cycle of violence.
